The notes
Top — Black pepper, cinnamon
Heart — Patchouli, cashmere wood, caramel
Base — Oud, sandalwood, iris

How it performs
It starts hot — pepper and cinnamon with real heat — then the dry woods kick in and ground it. After about twenty minutes the loudness settles into something smoother and richer. Hours later you are left with oud and sandalwood. On fabric it holds far longer than on skin; you will catch it on a jacket days later.

Wear it for
Nights out and big meetings. Autumn and winter, and evenings year-round. Reads masculine.

Getting the most from it
Three to four sprays on pulse points — wrists, the base of the neck, behind the ears. Fragrance holds longest on moisturised skin, so apply straight after a shower or over an unscented lotion. Do not rub your wrists together; it crushes the top notes before they have opened. In peak heat, one refresh mid-afternoon carries it through the evening.
